T-MOBILE MY TOUCH 4G SMARTPHONE ANNOUNCED

T-Mobile myTouch 4G smartphone announced

T-Mobile myTouchT-Mobile is continuing to bet heavily on Android with the announced launch of the myTouch high-end smartphone – and it brings with it support for its ultra-fast HSPA+ 4G data network.
The T-Mobile myTouch is designed to replace the older myTouch 3G, and brings with it a raft of new features – including a video chat function that seems eerily similar to Apple’s FaceTime, but inlike the iPhone-specific version functions over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
As well as the front-facing camera required for video chatting, the myTouch includes a five megapixel rear-facing camera capable of recording 720p HD video and a 3.8″ WVGA resolution touch-sensitive display on the front.  The entire unit is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, making the myTouch one of the more powerful cellphones on the market today.
That power comes across well in the included Android 2.2, which includes Flash support and a raft of new features missing from the Android 2.1 edition that many cellphones still ship with.
Storage is taken care of with a pre-installed 8GB microSD card, and if you want to share your creations once they’re saved on the card it includes wireless Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) support for streaming audio, video, and photos to compatible devices – including Sony’s PlayStation 3 console and compatible networked HDTVs.
The card also plays host to a pre-installed version of Swype, the fast-entry on-screen keyboard, which should hopefully make up for the lack of physical keyboard on the myTouch.  Lucky buyers also get treated to games in gorgeous high-resolution graphics, with Rock Band, Asphalt 5, and Monopoly all provided pre-loaded.
As is usual for T-Mobile’s own-brand devices, it’s a unique design created for the network by HTC – and will be launching in four colors: white, black, plum, and red.
The main selling point, however, is the 4G network support on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network.  Currently covering around 100 major metropolitan areas – that’s around 200 million people – T-Mobile’s 4G network offers high-speed downloads and the upstream bandwidth required for the cellular network video call functionality.
One thing that may turn some buyers off is the news that the T-Mobile myTouch will include a custom skin over the top of Android, meaning that updates could be slow coming when the next version of the mobile platform is released.
Sadly, T-Mobile has yet to provide pricing information or a firm launch date, except to confirm that it would be coming before the Holidays.

That myTouch sounds like an amazing phone! I wanted to bring up, for those who already have a Wi-Fi enabled phone but want 4G speeds, the Rover 4G. You can get unlimited internet on it, pay-as-you go per day, week or month and it will connect to up to 8 of you Wi-Fi devices like phones, laptops, and netbooks. Can’t wait to see the next line of high-speed capable phones!
