A source within leading UK mobile phone recycling firm RPC Recycle has stated that demand for their services is set to rise over January. The company, which recycles mobile handsets from manufacturers that include Nokia, Samsung, Apple and Sony Ericsson, points out that Christmas is a time when people often get new mobile phones and therefore no longer require their old handsets.
RPC Recycle’s Rebecca Downie commented, “Traditionally, January is one of our busiest periods, as people replace their older mobile phones with new ones. Although no longer needed, many of these older handsets cost a significant sum to buy, so it’s understandable that people want to recoup some of these costs.”
“It’s fair to say that a mobile phone is indeed just for Christmas, not for life – so the demand for our services are more in demand than ever around this time. Consumers are also becoming much more aware of the damage that handsets can do to the environment if they are not disposed of correctly. When people discover that just one mobile phone battery can potentially pollute up to 600,000 litres of water, they become far keener to ensure it is disposed of safely.”
Those who wish to sell their old mobile phone with RPC Recycle can visit the company’s website, where they can search for their make and model, and find out how much their handset is worth. After registering, RPC Recycle send out a freepost or recorded delivery envelope, in which the handset is returned to the recycling facility. Providing the handset is in working order, payment for the device is made within 2 working days.
